Description

The signs are all there, your baby is finally ready to start weaning, and to explore the delights of solid food and cows milk, but what happens when you discover your little bundle of joy has an allergy to cows’ milk? Aptamil Pepti 2 is an extensively hydrolysed whey-based formula to compliment a cows’ milk free weaning diet in babies over 6 months.

Isn’t science wonderful! The brilliant team at Aptamil have created Pepti 2 to alleviate the stress of CMA (cows’ milk allergy) when starting the weaning process. Although most children will eventually grow out of their CMA it can still be an extremely worrying factor for new parents to contend with, the reassuring news is that CMA is one of the most common food allergies in babies across the world, and with the introduction of Aptamil’s Pepti 2 CMA can be managed successfully, ensuring a well balanced diet for your newest addition.

Here’s the science part: The protein has been broken down (extensively hydrolysed) to make it less likely to cause an allergic reaction. Meaning not only can your tiny nipper enjoy all the benefits of cows milk, vitamin D and iron as well as extra calcium, but that it can be used to make all the favourites of the baby weaning firsts, including porridge and baby rice. Alongside all the goodness Aptamil Pepti also contains lactose for improved taste, to help your baby enjoy each and every feed, and support healthy weight gain when they require it most.

More about CMA:

If your baby is allergic to milk, they will react to infant formula which is based on cows’ milk and sometimes, but very rarely, your breast milk if you’ve recently consumed dairy products. Symptoms to look out for include stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhoea, rashes, hives, eczema, and difficulty breathing.

It’s common for babies who are allergic to cows’ milk to be allergic to goats’ milk and sheep’s milk too, as they contain similar proteins. Unfortunately, there is no single diagnostic test for cows’ milk allergy and a combination of tests and a series of elimination and reintroduction diets are often necessary. These tests usually happen once your baby has been referred to a specialist by your doctor. It's very important that you seek advice from your doctor if you suspect that your baby has an allergy so that they can be properly diagnosed and treated.

Usage

Because powdered milk is not sterile, failure to follow the instructions may make your baby ill. Wash hands and sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers’ instructions. Boil 1 litre of fresh water. Leave kettle to cool for no longer than 30 mins. Measure the required amount of water (refer to feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water. Using the scoop provided, level off the Aptamil Pepti 2 powder with the built-in leveller. Do not press or heap the powder. Add the correct measure of powder to the water. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful. Cap the bottle and shake vigorously for 25 seconds to dissolve the powder. Remove cap and replace with a sterilised teat. Cool under running tap. Check the temperature of feed. Feed immediately.

Please note the colour of the scoop in this pack may change from time to time.

Warnings

Make up each feed as required. For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds – always discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible and always within 1 hour. Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby’s feed. Do not heat in a microwave, as hot spots may occur and cause scalding. Always use the scoop provided.
