Top springtime fruit and vegetables include beetroot, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, parsnip, rhubarb, artichokes, kale, leeks, spring onions and, of course, flavoursome spring greens.

The study was conducted by the University of East Anglia and revealed that exposure to greenspace reduces the risk of type two diabetes, cardiovascular disease, premature death, preterm birth, stress and high blood pressure.

By introducing just 30 minutes a day of being outside, enjoying the fresh air, you will feel less stressed, more connected with the world around you and more energetic.

Try something New

With the evenings getting lighter for longer, it starts to feel like there’s more of the day to enjoy, so why not introduce a new activity to your weekly routine?

From getting back to a sport you once loved, to trying a new arts and crafts class, or making time to visit a friend; whatever it is that’s been on your mind to try, spring is a great time to put those ideas into action and enjoy meeting new people.

Quit Bad Habits

If your New Year’s resolutions have fallen to the wayside and you want to readdress your goals for 2020, spring is the perfect time to reset and move forward.

Changing bad habits is a challenge and achieving your goals takes hard work and dedication. At this time of year it’s easy to let your good intentions from January slip so now is a great opportunity to set aside some time to rethink what you want to achieve and get back on track…summer will be here before you know it and wouldn’t it be great to feel like you’ve smashed your target?

And don’t forget: there are support groups and help is available if you’re trying to make big changes to your lifestyle. Your GP practice may be able to offer advice for local resources – good luck!

Until next time...
